If you’re playing a healer, and someone takes 10% of their health in damage (or more) while you’re not facing them, or if they’re missing 15% or more of their health and you aren’t facing them, they will automatically call for healing, and only you (the healer) will see it.
The same goes for if an unarmored player is nearby and you have enough scrap to throw them armor.
And it used to be the same for if you were Symmetra and someone nearby didn’t have a shield.
These ONLY show up for the healer of the team, or Torbjorn in the case of armor, meaning other people on your team don’t see the callouts.
However, other teammates WILL see the callout if a player hits X to call for healing.
Because of this function, Genji, a character who is most likely very rarely in front of his healer because he’s busy flanking the enemy team, will very very very often call out for healing automatically.
Knowing this made me not get upset about Genji calling for healing when he’s across the map from me and I’m on Mercy. I assure you, it’s not the Genji player hitting his X key to call out for healing, it’s just the game’s programming.
I also urge you to test this out with your friends if you don’t believe me.
I’ve tested it on various occasions, it is in fact the case.
Because trust me, when DVa is in the middle of the enemy team shooting everywhere, and you turn your back to heal the Widowmaker calling for healing behind you for a split second only to see DVa suddenly call for healing the second she leaves your screen, it’s not just a coincidence. DVa didn’t hit X the exact same second she left your screen.
It’s programmed to do that.
